Infections that are transferred by sexual activity, particularly vaginal sex, anal sex, and oral sex, are known as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), also known as sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and the earlier term venereal diseases. STIs frequently do not exhibit symptoms at first, increasing the chance of infection transmission. STIs can cause pelvic discomfort, vaginal discharge, penile discharge, ulcers on or around the genitalia, and other symptoms and indicators. Infertility can result from some STIs. Chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and syphilis are bacterial STIs. HIV/AIDS, genital warts, and genital herpes are examples of viral STIs. Trichomonasis is one of the parasitic STIs. In the industrialised world, STI diagnostic tests are often simple to get, but they are frequently unavailable in the poor world.
