A condition that is most frequently observed with increasing frequency with growing senescence is known as an aging-associated disease (usually referred to as an age-related disease, or ARD). They are basically side effects of senescence, which is different from ageing itself since, with very few exceptions, all adult animals age, but not all adult animals experience all age-related disorders. Only illnesses affecting the elderly are covered by the word; it does not apply to illnesses that are age-specific, such as the measles and chicken pox that affect children. Additionally, these are not all hereditary conditions that hasten ageing. Atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease, cancer, arthritis, cataracts, osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and Alzheimer's disease are a few examples of illnesses linked to aging. With age, the prevalence of each of these diseases rises exponentially.
