Title: Healing is human: Rebuilding public health through human connection
Abstract:
For decades, public health has advanced through scientific innovation, yet loneliness, burnout, anxiety, and social isolation continue to rise. This presentation explores authentic human connection as a foundational public health strategy. Drawing from 46 years in the mental health field, including 37 years as a psychiatrist, it examines how communication, belonging, creativity, and purpose strengthen resilience and community well-being. Participants will learn practical approaches to reducing burnout, rebuilding trust, supporting prevention, and preserving human-centered care as technology evolves. The session provides actionable frameworks that healthcare leaders, educators, and public health professionals can adapt to foster healthier individuals, stronger organizations, and more connected communities.
